Message from BAGN Chairperson on July 10, 2012

Dear BAGN Members and Friends,

1) Regional Bengali Conference (RBC) 2012 in Atlanta, GA was a superb success.

Thanks to everyone who came to support BAGN and Pujari of Atlanta for RBC 2012 in Atlanta.

a) For those of you who could not be at the event, BAGN presented ‘Prem’ – a collection of songs, abritti and dance by several eminent Bengali Poets which was cheered, well applauded and appreciated by the crowd. A pat on the back to all participants and thanks to the program director – Arup Bandhyopadhyay.

b) Pujari of Atlanta did a wonderful job in conducting RBC 2012. Pujari honored BAGN by presenting a plaque saluting Bengali Association of Nashville(BAGN) for Regional Bengali Conference.

c) Aside from this, few from BAGN participated in a Raffle draw conducted by ‘The Bengali Gourmet’, an independent food blogger Sutapa Ray, made famous by the ‘Bengali recipes of Sutapa Ray on the web’. Sutapa Mitra of BAGN won the raffle draw and her prize was a Blackberry Palm PC. Congratulations Sutapa!!!

d) Some BAGN members participated in the Probashi Poroma Beauty contest conducted by Shyam Sundar Jewelers of Kolkata. Sonia Chaudhuri was crowned 1st runners up, Haimanti Basu was crowned 2nd runners up and Sharmistha Ganguly won a special prize in this contest. Congratulations to all the participants!!
e) On June 30th (saturday), BAGN announced that RBC 2013 will organized by BAGN in Nashville, TN, and invited everyone present to make plans to attend RBC 2013 in Nashville.

2) BAGN’s Durga Puja- The next big cultural event for BAGN is Durga Pujo. So please do send your request for participation to our cultural coordinator Sutapa Mukhopadhyay at rinkumukhopadhyay@gmail.com – by 10th of August. Please note participation is on a first come first serve basis.

3) BAGN picnic
Date : 28th July (Saturday)
Time – 11:00 am onwards
Venue : Percy Priest Lake picnic area – Anderson Road shelter

DIRECTION:
From dowtown Nashville, TN, take I-40 east 5 miles to Exit 219, Stewarts Ferry Pike. Turn right on Stewarts Ferry Pike, and go straight on Bell Road 5 miles, left on Smith Springs Road. Go 1 mile and turn left on Anderson Rd. Go another mile and the campground will be on the left.
The Day Use Area with Picnic Shelter is straight ahead.
Program details:

1. Social hour 11:00am-12:30pm
2. Kids Games and Competition – 12:30pm – 1:30pm
3. BAGN Financial Report Meeting – 12:30pm-1:30pm
4. Lunch – 1:30pm – 3:30pm
5. Games for all – 3:30pm-till end

Please note that the park charges a nominal entry fee per vehicle that will need to be paid by the attendees.
The shelter is booked under BAGN secretary Sharmistha Ganguly(Misty).

Since this is a free event for BAGN members we would request that members donate for this event.
